The semi-adjustable adjustable sandal Sep 03, 2010 For decades, Clarks has produced quality shoes. In searching for the perfect sandals, I found my way to this style and color (yellow!)and was delighted that it was made by Clark. These fit my criteria, especially the buckle straps for I didn't want velcro which gunks up. So I bought a pair.
I love the look and comfortable soles. I felt the fit could be more snug, but I didn't think it was an issue. But, after a few wearings I had some trouble adjusting the straps for a snug enough fit. The front to back unsnug fit is especially noticeable for the heel strap is not adjustable which exacerbates a back>front slide due to the heel height. This forward pressure puts stress on the top straps, especially the 1st straps by the toes for I can now feel my feet trying to push through the toe opening.
As I say, it wasn't until I'd worn the sandals that the unsnug fit became bothersome for I believe the suede leather stretched making the fit even looser. I noticed that the heel area had a leather lining in recognition, I believe, that the suede leather needed reinforcement. But the straps area is not lined making for a less strong strap. What is happening now is that the hole that the buckle buckles through on the first strap is ripping--one or two more wearings and it'll rip completely making the sandal unwearable. The buckle holes on the 2 long top straps are starting to show signs of fray. I took pictures thinking I could upload them into this review...but alas this feature doesn't exist.
So...2 design flaws in these almost-perfect sandals: 1) no heel strap buckle to make for a snug fit, and 2) unlined top straps practically guaranteeing the forward foot pressure will stretch the straps and eventually weaken the leather further causing the buckle holes to rip. These unfortunate design decisions were most likely cost-cutting measures that compromised the quality of the sandals.
I don't think this fit issue is particular to me. If I thought it was, I wouldn't bother writing a review. I wear these sandals only on occasion--when I go shopping--and I've had them only 5 months. So I am quite disappointed that a $60 pair of Clarks is not holding up.
Wide size is not wide enough! Sep 02, 2010 I have only slightly wide feet but the wide size fits like regular. Otherwise the fit is true to size. Returned.
These are my favorite shoes Aug 28, 2010 I've been buying Clarks Sunbeat sandals for years. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. The earlier design had a problem with the soles splitting. In time, it happened to all of the early-design pairs that I owned. (I continued to buy them, though, because they were so comfortable.) The last two pairs I bought had a redesigned sole. So far, so good. It's been over a year and I haven't had a problem. Let's hope they've solved it for good.
Not the comfortable old version Aug 12, 2010 The soles on these are hard as a rock. They are nothing like the old version that had wonderfully comfortable soft soles. We ordered two pairs thinking they were the same and promptly sent them back.
C larkes sandals Aug 04, 2010 My wife was very dissapointed with the Clarkes sandal. It was not the same as the one she had before. I returned them
